Compensating switchgears

Compensation switchgears are designed to compensate consumption of reactive energy to the value of the inductive power factor of 0.95-1. Depending on the scope and character of the electricity consumption, compensation can be solved as a central, group, or individual one, or as a combination of the respective compensation types. When designing a compensation device, we recommend being based on network quality measurements. Standard designs of compensation switchgears are applied in networks without higher harmonics. In networks with higher harmonics, i.e. where technological manufacturing devices include semiconductor-controlled elements, it is necessary to use so-called protected compensation switchgears.

Compensation switchgears are supplied in US or OCEP (hanging) type switchgear cabinets, which cover, thanks to their parameters, a wide spectrum of requirements concerning the design of the given type of device.

Installation of new equipment in existing switchgear cabinets is an alternative to delivery of new complete compensation switchgears. It is also possible to choose the option of installing the compensation part into an RST switchgear.

Switchboard equipment:

capacitors: cylindrical, autoregeneration capacitors with an overpressure fuse and discharge resistor
chokes: protective chokes for so-called protected networks with a higher proportion of harmonic currents
contactors: highly durable special contactors with resistive switching
protection of compensation stages: fuse switch disconnectors
switchgear protection: fuse switch disconnectors, circuit breakers
controllers: 6- or 12-stage digital controllers (analog, pulse) controlled by a processor, with functions enabling communication with energy management.
